Rick L. Austin, age 63, of Marion, passed away Monday, April 24, 2017 unexpectedly of a massive heart attack in his home.
Rick was born on February 17, 1954 in Omaha, Nebraska the son of the late Ulysess “Bud” Austin and Maxine Dawn (Luther) Austin. He married Nancy Quick on December 29, 1993, and she survives.
Rick was a lifelong resident of Marion, growing up in Bucktown. He was a graduate of
Marion High School and I.T.T. Tech. He worked for 35 years at Foster Forbes/Ardagh Glass in the hot end as an upkeep man. Rick worked hard and looked forward to retirement and did so in January 2016.
Rick had a ’72 Nova that he just loved to show off! He enjoyed attending the grandkids ballgames. His grandson, Eli was his best buddy along with his cousin, Butch Gandee who was his side-kick. Rick was an avid Colts, Pacers, IU and Jeff Gordon NASCAR fan. He and Nancy attended Brookhaven Wesleyan Church in Marion.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Austin of Marion; sons, Clinton Austin of Texas, Phillip Austin of Indianapolis, Ben Quick of Jonesboro, and Nathan (Jericho) Quick of Vincennes; daughters, Jody Austin of Marion, Cassie Austin of Gas City, Lyndsey Austin of Indianapolis and Kasey (Brian) Parks of Marion; twin brother, Robbie (Jeannine) Austin of Marion; brother, Tim (Robin) Austin of Marion; sisters, Vicki (Johnny) Erickson of Okeechobee, Florida, Susie (Ike) Denton or Roann, and Shelly (Larry) Garcia of Okeechobee, Florida; and his twelve grandchildren, Morgan, Maggie, Rhamy, Eli, Anthony, B.K., Kirby, Maeley, Rileigh, Fallon, Davion, and Dalyn.
Friends and family may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2017 in Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2017 in the funeral home with Pastor Ronald Hon officiating.
Burial will immediately follow funeral services in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
