Barbara Jean Foust

August 12, 1925 — February 2, 2021

Barbara Jean Foust, age 95 of Marion passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 in her home.

Barbara was born August 12, 1925 in Plymouth, Wisconsin the daughter of the late George and Adeline (Hirsch) Andrews.

She graduated from Marion High School in 1943 and enjoyed playing the clarinet in the marching band.  She then attended Ball State University, St. Mary’s University, St. Frances of Ft. Wayne and Marion College.  She then graduated from Butler University in 1947 where she also played in the band; and was a member of the Tri Delta Sorority.  She married Robert A. Foust on June 16, 1946, and they lived in Arizona while Bob went to Law School at the University of Arizona.  They shared 61 years of marriage before Bob preceded her in death on April 28, 2007.

Barbara worked for the Indiana Theater as cashier while she was in college; the Girl Scouts of America; Indiana and Michigan Electric, and was a substitute teacher for several years.  Barbara was active in the Marion Civic Theatre for many years and starred in many plays including: Good Bye My Fancy, All My Sons, You Can’t Take It With You, and Dial M For Murder, to name a few.

She was a former member of Temple Congregational Church where she sang in the choir, and a member of St. James Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Senior Choir and was Chairman of the Alter Guild for many years.   She was also a member of the Meshingomesia Country Club, the Hostess House, the Elks Country Club, and the Lyric Club and served on the Board of the Marion Philharmonic Friends for many years.

Barbara enjoyed bicycle riding and continued to do so until almost 90 and enjoyed playing in several Bridge Clubs.  She also loved walking, gardening, listening to music, playing the piano and exercises which she said: “Keep Me Going”!  Barbara also played golf and in 1972, she had a “Hole In One” on Green #2 at the Country Club.  She truly loved her family so very much!

She is survived by her son Andrew Foust of S. Bend, Indiana; two grandchildren, Ryan Foust and Erin (Jack) Mooneyhan; and one great-granddaughter, Ava Mooneyhan.

Barbara was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Jana Foust; and a sister, Adelle Marie DeWalt and her husband, Ronald.

At Barbara’s request, cremation will take place.   Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. t0 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at St. James Lutheran Church, 1206 N. Miller Avenue, Marion, Indiana.  Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m.  Private Burial will take place at Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, 1206 N. Miller Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46952; or to Heart to Heart Hospice, 1385 N. Baldwin Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46952.
