Bessie B. Holt, a devoted homemaker and a cherished member of her community, was born on June 10, 1931, in the serene town of Athens, Alabama. She departed this earthly realm on February 24, 2025, in LaFountaine, leaving behind a rich tapestry woven with love, family, and cherished memories.
Bessie was a beacon of warmth and grace, embodying the spirit of nurturing and care that defined her life. As a dedicated homemaker, she poured her heart into creating a loving environment for her family, fostering bonds that would last through generations. Her life was filled with a myriad of interests, reflecting her vibrant personality; she was a proud member of Victory Free Will Baptist Church, where she found solace and community. Bessie's love for fishing brought her joy and tranquility, while her fondness for exploring flea markets and antique stores illustrated her appreciation for the beauty of the past and the stories that shaped them.
In her memory, Bessie is survived by her loving children: Bill (Tina) Holt, Judy Carroll Hurd, and Tracy Eddy, who carry forward her legacy of compassion and kindness. Her grandchildren—Kyle Holt, Tabitha Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Shelby Holt, Blake Holt, Justin Eddy, Alisa Bigelow, Teresa Bigelow, Robbie Bigelow, Randy Hurd, Tina Jackson, Terry Jackson, Angela Zickmund, and Alisha Hunchman—were the light of her life, as she took immense pride in watching them grow. She also leaves behind sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, a testament to the beautiful family tree she nurtured throughout her cherished years.
Bessie's presence will be deeply missed by her sister, Mary Platzke, as well as countless friends and acquaintances whose lives she touched with her generosity and grace. However, she will always be remembered alongside her beloved family members who have passed, including her father, John Bradshaw; her mother, Lillian Bradshaw; her late husband, Robert Porter Holt; her daughter, Ronda Hardy; her daughter, Janice Bigelow; and her grandsons, Rodney Hurd and Troy Bigelow. She is also reunited with her siblings, Georgia Williams, Lloyd Bradshaw, and Floyd Bradshaw, who await her in the embrace of eternity.
