Betty Howell, age 91 passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2021. Affectionately called “Boop,” she was born on August 18, 1929 in Marion, Indiana and was the only child of Ralph and Kathryn (Osborn) Van Duyn.
After meeting at the 949 Drive-In, she married Guy Howell, Jr. on March 25, 1949. They were married 55 years until Guy’s passing on March 10, 2004. They had three children, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Betty worked at Foster Forbes for 20 years and was part of the DeVoe/Bunker Drivers Team in their retirement years. She was a member of Grace Community Church. Betty made many wonderful memories with her family and friends at Yellow Creek Lake and with the Mississinewa Boat & Ski Club. They also enjoyed their retirement home in Panama City Beach, Florida.
She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Harrison of Indianapolis; granddaughter, Aimee Cart (Matt Surber) of Indianapolis; great-granddaughter, Landess Hutson (Mark) of Round Rock, Texas; and great grandson, Wilder Cart of Indianapolis.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by both of her sons, Thom and Ron Howell; grandson, Aaron Travis Leach; and son-in-law, Gary Harrison.
Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial will immediately follow funeral services in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
