BETTY LOU SCHNAR, age 58, formerly of Marion, died Monday, July 7, 2008 at her home in Scottsdale, Arizona.
BETTY was born on September 4, 1949, in Wabash, Indiana, the daughter of Robert and Doris (Shillinger) Schnar. They survive.
Betty attended schools in Marion and graduated from Marion High School in 1968. She had planned to attend her 40th. Class Reunion in August. While at Marion High School, she was a member of the band and booster club. Betty was an avid Bobby Knight fan.
She attended Indiana University before moving to Chicago to study ballet in 1970. She remained in Chicago until two years ago when she moved to Scottsdale. She worked many years as a secretary in Chicago. She loved her family and her cats. She also loved horseback riding and shared this interest with her nieces and nephews on summer visits. Betty was a licensed pilot and loved auto racing and her 1955 Buick.
Survivors include her Parents, Doris & Robert Schnar of Marion, Indiana; Sister, Jane Long of Richardson, Texas; Brothers, Richard Schnar (Judy) of Cumming, Georgia and Gene Schnar (friend, Brandy Kedrick) of Vernon Hills, Illinois; Nieces and Nephews, Michelle Shollack (Tom) of Murphy, Texas; Major Michael Long (Esther) of Oceanside, California; Amanda Knudson (Tim) of Indian Head, Maryland; Jamey Hyman of Atlanta, Georgia and Jacob & Daniel Schnar of Vernon Hills, Illinois; several great-nieces & nephews; her ex-husband, Charles Friedman of Chicago, Illinois; special friend, David Oakes of Scottsdale, Arizona; and her cat, Balle.
Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2008, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, with Pastor Kay Patton officiating.
Burial will be at a later date.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 17 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
