Carita L. (Thomas) Blunk

Carita L.Blunk, age 85, of Marion, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 5, 2014, at Colonial Oaks Health Care Center, Marion, Indiana.
Carita was born December 5, 1928, in Marion, Indiana, the daughter of the late Walter and Elsie (Schaef) Thomas. She married Willis Blunk on October 12, 1981, and he preceded her in death.
Carita graduated high school in Miltonvale, Kansas. She obtained her Master's Degree and attended four different schools including Marion College, Ball State University, Indiana University and Butler University. She was one of the most dedicated teachers we've known and had taught at Union Township School and Temple Christian School. Her twenty-one years teaching have been spent helping little children in any way she could.
Carita was also a wonderful Christian woman who lived for Christ and loved telling others about Him. She was a member of the Nelson Street Wesleyan Church where she taught Sunday school. Religion was very important to her. She was involved with the Samaritan Purse and enjoyed arranging flowers.
Survivors include: son, Steve (Debi) Blunk of Marion, Indiana, and their children, David Steven Blunk II, Shelby C. Blunk and Reanne A. Hobbs; son, Alan (Holly) Blunk of Fishers, Indiana and their children, Anabel M. Blunk, Lauryn E. Blunk and Benjamin R. Blunk; son, Donnie Blunk of Pasadena, California; daughter, Lynn Porter of Odessa, Texas; brother, John D. Thomas of Marion, Indiana; and two sisters, Evangeline Smith of Marion, Indiana, and Kathryn Zell of Lebanon, Indiana.
Graveside Services and burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2014, at Estates of Serenity Cemetery, Marion, Indiana with Chaplain Bill Sparks officiating.
There will be no visitation.
