Carl "Dee" Shields

Carl "Dee" Shields, age 77, passed away at 7:35 a.m. Sunday, March 27, 2011, at Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie.
Dee was born on May 20, 1933, in Marion, Indiana, the son of the late Carl and Helen (Clark) Shields. He married Mary J. Zook on October 6, 1953. She survives.
He worked at the VA Hospital until his retirement in 1977. He was also an Army veteran serving during the Korean War. Dee loved fishing and golfing.
Survivors include: wife, Mary Joan Shields; two sons, Philip Shields (Jane), and Michael Shields (Stephanie); daughter, Melody Horine (James); two brothers, David Shields (Nancy), and Dennis Shields (Sally); sister, Roberta Kuffman (Ralph); granddaughter, Loran Nichole Shields; grandsons, Thomas, Justin, Blake and Benjamin Shields; and great-grandson, Zackerie.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jack Shields.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, with the Reverend Neil Brown officiating.
Burial with Full Military Rites will be held in Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
