Charles Marvin Connors, age 82, of Port Charlotte, Florida formerly of Marion, Indiana and summer resident of Milo, Maine passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at his Port Charlotte residence.
Charles was born to the late Harold and Helen (nee-Green) Connors, April 15, 1935 in Smyrna Mills, Smyrna, Maine. Charles graduated in 1952 from Houlton High School in Houlton, ME, where he met and married the love of his life, Ethel L. Ivey. He served six years in the Army National Guard, before beginning a career with General Motors as a Journeyman Tool and Diemaker; a career that would span 36 years until his retirement in 1993. Charles and Ethel moved to Port Charlotte in 1997, but continued to summer in Milo, ME. Charles loved to spend time camping at Seboeis Lake in Maine, on land his family has maintained since he was five years old.
Charles was a multi-talented man who could fix anything, and enjoyed wood working and flying small planes as a licensed pilot in his spare time. He was a member and past master of the McCulloch Lodge No. 737 in Marion; the Ft. Wayne Scottish Rite in Fort Wayne; Mizpah Shrine also in Fort Wayne; the Mississinewa Chapter No. 94 Order of Eastern Star in Van Buren; and was past President of Phil Delta Kappa.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Ethel L. Connors; daughters, Vicki Spencer of Marion, and Karen (Lee) Holloway of Fairmount; grandchildren, Julie Saylors and Jeffery Saylors, both of Marion, Bryan (Courtney) Holloway of Noblesville, Craig (Stacy) Holloway of Summitville, Andrew (Adessa) Holloway of Fairmount, and Lindsey (Matthew) Houston of Noblesville; great-granddaughters, Abigail Martz, Taylor Ludlow, Madalee and Georgia Holloway and Ella and Mia Houston; and many extended family members.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Braithwaite, and a daughter, Patricia Gail Connors.
Friends and family may call from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. Memorial Services will be held at 4:30 p.m. and a Masonic Service at 5:00 p.m.
