Charles W. "Buddy" O'Brien

Charles "Buddy" O'Brien, age 81, of Marion, passed away at his home on Friday, November 27, 2015 with his loving daughter at his bedside who served as his caregiver in the last months of his life.
He was born on December 16, 1933 in Hillsboro, Kentucky, the son of the late E.G. "Pat" and Ethel (Boyd) O'Brien. He married Ruth Rice on March 11, 1955, and she preceded him in death on July 19, 2007.
Buddy served in the U.S. Army from October 1952 through September 1954, stationed in Germany and New York. He moved to Marion with Ruth in 1955 with their best friends, James and Marie Riley. He was a production worker and machine attendant at RCA for 37 years, until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of the RCA Sympathy Club.
He enjoyed taking family vacations and spending time with his family at their pool, traveling to Kentucky to see family, watching t.v. and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Marion.
He is survived by his daughter, Constance "Connie" O'Brien of Noblesville, Indiana; grandchildren, Amber Tharp Carter (Shane), Patrick Tharp, Sara O'Brien Brainerd (Adam); great-grandchildren, Mikie Tharp, Noah Carter, Lauren Tharp and Ian Brainerd; two special nieces, Patty Hurst Long (Roger) and Angela Harmon Cox (Mike); and special sister-in-law, Geneva O'Brien.
He was also preceded in death by brothers, Steven, Douglas and Bill O'Brien; a sister, Jo Nelson Harmon; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Tharp; and grandson, Michael L. Tharp, Jr.;
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
