Mrs. Graham was born the second child of Clarence C. and Gladys (Oden) Skinner on June 29, 1922 in Marion, Indiana. She peacefully passed away in the Marion General Hospital Emergency Department on Friday, July 15, 2011 at 6:15 p.m.
Clarell Nadine was a graduate of Sweetser High School Class of 1940. On December 14, 1941, Elwin Graham asked Clarell to spend her life with him in marriage. With that promise, they celebrated 69 years of marriage on December 14, 2011. They had three children, one son, Earl, and two daughters, Janice and Jayne.
Clarell was an 80 year member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Marion, Indiana. From the age of 9, she was known for her beautiful singing voice, both solos and in the choir. She enjoyed serving in many positions in her church throughout these years. In the community, she was better known as "Nadine". She was a member of the Grant County Farm Bureau Board of Directors until this year, serving many of those years as Secretary of the Board. Nadine was more than 55 years a member of the Cart Creek Homemakers again using her voice for many of those years with the County Chorus, the Altrusa Club of Marion, Meals on Wheels, the Pleasant Homemakers Club and with her cherished friends of the Progressive Farm Club. She loved her church and being active in her community.
Her career was a Massage Therapist and then the Administrator/Owner of Graham School of Massage in Marion, Indiana, which she retired from in 1993 at the age of 70. In her earlier years, she loved professionally baking and decorating cakes. She was a lady of many talents and did them all well.
Clarell Nadine is survived by her husband, Elwin L. Graham of Marion, Indiana; two daughters, Janice "Jan" Brown of Marion, Indiana, and Jayne (Peter) Taylor-Lopez of Toronto, Canada; brother, John "Jack" (Martha) Skinner of Greenwood, Indiana; sister-in-law, Lois Skinner of Michigan; seven grandchildren, Michelle Graham and Andre (Juanita) Graham both of Florida; Noah (Detta) Koegel of Marion, Indiana, Amy (Bill) McVay of Minnesota, Arica (Michael) Carpenter of Alaska, Stephen (Shana) Taylor of Canada, and Ladena (Oswald) Prithipaul of Canada; 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson; and several nieces and nephews
Those preceding her in death were a son, Earl Graham May 2010; a son-in-law, Robert Taylor; two sisters, June Duling and Geraldine Skinner; a brother, Clarence "Buck" Skinner; brother-in-law, Meredith Duling; one great-granddaughter, Olivia Prithipaul, and two nephews, Loren and Jerry Duling.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2011, at the First Church of The Nazarene, 700 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana, with the Reverend Mark Hinshaw and Reverend Greg Clark officiating.
Burial will be in Grant Memorial Park, Marion, Indiana.
Friends may call from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 21 at the First Church of The Nazerene, and one hour prior to services on Friday, July 22, at the church.
