Clayton H. Shafer, age 79, of Marion, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2016 at Marion General Hospital.
Clayton was born on November 20, 1936 in Marion, Indiana the son of the late Herbert and Vera (Nelson) Shafer. He married Linda Flick on September 13, 1985, and she survives. He was an Army veteran and worked as a welder at the General Motors Plant until his retirement in 1993.
He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed watching cowboy shows on the television and playing games on the computer.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Shafer of Marion, Indiana; three sons, William (Sheila) Shafer of Muncie, Indiana, Eric (Jody) Grant of Florida, and Douglas Grant of Sherwood, Texas; four daughters, Beth Hogan, Leigh Ann (Joe) Wearly, Terri Joe Titus and Brenda Mills, all of Marion, Indiana; a sister, Susan Calobrace of Marion; grandchildren, Kerri Allen, Glenn Allen (Heather), Scott Titus, Ashley Hogan, Justin Hogan, Steven Mills and Joe Mills; and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Fred Shafer and a sister, Madeline Morgan.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2016 in Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana with Pastor Tom Mansbarger officiating.
Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 28, 2016 in the funeral home.
Burial will immediately follow funeral services in Gardens of Memory, Huntington County, Indiana.
