Daniel "Danny" Helton, born on June 8, 1960, in Peru, IN, went on his last ride on November 4, 2024, at Aperion Care Marion. Danny lived a life rich in passion and camaraderie, always leaving a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him.
Danny was a proud veteran, having served in the United States Marine Corps, demonstrating a commitment to service that would stay with him throughout his life. He had a profound love for classic cars and motorcycles, often spending weekends at the racetrack enjoying drag racing. Danny's enthusiasm extended to his affection for his cats, as well as a special fondness for the comedic talents of Don Knotts and the delightful escapades of Ma and Pa Kettle.
He is survived by his mother Kay Nearon, his beloved son, Damian Helton, and daughter-in-law, Joni. Danny's legacy is also cherished by his sisters, Sue Helton, Cherie McVay and her husband Tom, and Marisha Helton, along with his brother, Jimmy Helton, who for many years was both a brother and a caretaker. He held dear relationships with his aunts and uncles—Judith Townsend and her husband Bill, Vicky Linderman, Lauri McField, Debbie Bronie, Anne Robison, Janie Townsend, Johnny Helton, Nancy "Nat" Streeter, Becky Arpaia, Dave Helton and his wife Debbie, and Bob Walls and his partner Tracey. In addition, he is remembered fondly by several nieces, nephews, and cousins who were blessed to be part of his life.
Danny was predeceased by his father, Cecil Helton, and his aunts, Anna Marie Walls, Waverly Helton, and Pammy Warelyne. He also mourned the loss of his uncle, Howard Raymond Walls, as well as his uncles Gene Helton and Bruce Helton. Danny will forever be remembered by family as a cherished son and brother, enriched by the memories of his grandparents Raymond and Marilyn Helton, Elma and Babe Rork, and Mary Roe and Howard Lewis Walls.
A visitation to celebrate Danny's life will take place on November 12, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Raven Choate Robinson Funeral Home, located at 1202 West Kem Road, Marion, IN 46952. Following the visitation, an additional military service will occur at the same venue from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Marion Post 5 Sons of AmVets.
As we reflect on Danny’s life, we remember him for his loving spirit, adventurous nature, and unwavering dedication to family and friends. His journey may have concluded, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
