David S. Nelson

David S. Nelson, age 67, of Marion passed away Monday, November 9, 2015 in Marion General Hospital.

Dave was born on November 10, 1947 in Dayton, Ohio, the son of the late Keith Nelson and Jonetta Nelson. His mother survives.

He was a 1966 graduate of Colonel White High School and then earned his Bachelor's degree at Ohio Wesleyan University and in 1967 the school was the undefeated Conference Champions in football. Dave married Barbara Hogan on April 6, 1987, and she also survives.

He worked in management for 12 years at International Harvester, 22 years at General Tire and retired as the Quality Manager of the Wabash plant. Dave was a 30 year member of the Elks Country Club in Marion.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Nelson of Marion, Indiana; his mother, Jonetta Nelson of Englewood, Ohio; two daughters, Michelle Nelson (Darius Redd) and Molly Nelson, both of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; two step-sons, Tim (Lisa) Downam of Marion, Indiana and David (Barbie) Downam of New Castle, Indiana; two step-daughters, Mellissa (Barry) King of Fairmount, Indiana and Christi (Steve) Cox of Anderson, Indiana; brother, Jerry (Sharon) Nelson of Westchester, Ohio; sister, Nancy (John) Dudash of Columbus, Ohio; and 6 grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 13, 2015, in Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana with Jason Cameron officiating.

Friends may call from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 2015 in the funeral home.

Burial will immediately follow funeral services in Converse Cemetery, Converse, Indiana.
