David B. Stevens

David B. Stevens, age 95, of Marion, passed away at 3:50 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012 in Colonial Oaks Health Care & Rehabilitation Center.

David Burl Stevens was born December 4, 1916 in North Dakota to Fred and Glendora Stevens. He grew up in Sweetser, Indiana and graduated from Sweetser High School. In 1937, he married Minnie Browning. She survives him.

David had a keen interest in and gained a vast amount of knowledge of Grant County history, the Civil War, airplanes, and automobiles; and he was always ready with a story to tell about his life experiences. He was a man of integrity, a kind, helpful, gentle man; and above all, a gentleman. David loved his family and was so proud of the accomplishments of each of them.

During his working years he served on the Grant County Mental Health Board, and was a member of the Lions Club. In 1981, after thirty years of dedicated service, he retired from Dana Corporation.

Retirement years were filled with projects of his handiwork and travel throughout the country, mostly to visit his grandchildren. He attended the First Church of God in Marion.

Survivors in addition to his wife are: daughters, Patsy (Galen) Munson and Wanda (Paul) Lew; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary (Lester) Butler and Vera Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana with Reverend Ben Gray officiating.

Friends may call from 12:00 Noon until services at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home.

Burial will be in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lions Club International, 300 W. 22nd Street, Oak Brook, Illinois 60523-8842.
