Donald L. Crabtree

DONALD L. CRABTREE, age 73, of Marion, died at 10:34 p.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2008, in Marion General Hospital, Marion.

DONALD was born on February 14, 1935, in Monticello, Kentucky, the son of the late Woodrow and Edath (Dobbs) Crabtree. He married Janet Zabst in September 1969. She survives.

He was a Navy veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a crane operator at Fisher Body for 40 years, retiring in 1998.

He was a member of Sunnycrest Baptist Church; the American Legion, Post 10; Moose Lodge No. 251 and the RCA & Fisher Body Sympathy Clubs. He was an avid train collector, he loved to help his neighbors and dearly loved his animals. He also played guitar with the "Garage Pickers" in Fairmount. He loved camping and was well known for the decorating he did to their home during the Halloween and Christmas seasons. Donald gave in death, as he did in life by being an organ eye donor.

Survivors include Wife, Janet Crabtree of Marion, Indiana; Step-Daughter, Jody Denning (Michael) of Elizabethtown, Tennessee; Brothers, James Crabtree (Pam) of Picqua, Ohio, Danny Crabtree (Vicky) of Noblesville, Indiana and Allen Crabtree of Alexandria, Indiana; Cousins, Gussie Richardson and Tommy Richardson, both of Kentucky; Step-Grandchildren, Christopher Childers of Tennessee and Melissa Jones of Scottsdale, Arizona; Step Great-Grandchildren, Devin & Katelyn Jones of Scottsdale, Arizona and his loving pets.

He was also preceded in death by a step-son, Daniel Fenstermaker.

Memorial Services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana with Reverend Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Grant County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
