Donna J. Jacobs

Donna J. Jacobs, age 90, of Peru formerly a long-time Marion resident passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2020 in her home.

Donna was born February 9, 1930 in Lansing, Illinois and was the daughter of the late Leonard and Mary (Flummer) Grosswiler.   She married Walter Schlesinger on July 25, 1980, and he preceded her in death on June 27, 2008.

She was a member of the Marion Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Marion.   Before retiring Donna worked as a secretary at Cancer Services of Grant County.  She was also a department clerk at Anaconda Wire & Cable and was a life-long dog groomer.  She loved her little fur babies, Sparky, Dolly & Bonnie.  They will forever miss her!

She was a very loving grandmother and “GG” to her many great-grandchildren!  Donna was a breast cancer survivor of 20 years and helped with many events to bring awareness of the many resources Cancer Services of Grant County made available.

Donna is survived by daughters, Tanis D. Lott of Peru, Janis E. (James) Henry of St. Mary’s, Georgia, Mary E. Brading of Kokomo, Julie A. Ramsey of Amboy, Dianna Lyerla of Peru and Rhonda Dike of Oklahoma; a sister, Myrna Hensley of Apison, Tennessee; 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers and one sister.

Private family visitation will be held on Friday, April 24 with cremation to take place following visitation.

Arrangements are entrusted to Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
