Doris A. Copeland

Doris A. Copeland, age 97, of Marion, went to be with Jesus Tuesday morning July 18, 2017 at Marion General Hospital, Marion, Indiana.

Doris was born July 30, 1919 in North Vernon, Indiana the daughter of the late Frank and Inez (Atwood) Kingery.  She married Byron Friend and he preceded her in death on January 9, 1986.  Her second husband, Samuel Leseman passed away in 2008.   She married John Copeland on August 28, 2010, and he survives.

Doris was a member of the Red Hat Club.   She adored her family.  She was a quilt maker and whenever she was watching TV she was knitting or crocheting.  She was also a doll maker, a painter, and made baskets out of pine needles.  She loved making pies and traveling.  She also enjoyed making jewelry to give it away.

She is survived by her husband, John Copeland of Marion; son, Bob Friend (Marthann) of Florida; daughters, Jacque Humphrey (Harold) and Nancy Nye (Wayne), both of Marion; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Jon Friend; three brothers, Glen, Jack and Bob Kingery; two sisters, Freda Fidler and Ruth Schubach; and grandson, Jay Dee Friend.

Friends and family may call from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2017 and from Noon to 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2017 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2017 in the funeral home with Reverend Tom Mansbarger officiating.

Burial will be held in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion, Indiana following funeral services.
