Dorothy Eugenia Bannister

September 22, 1932 — July 5, 2010

MUNCIE - Dorothy Eugenia (Jackson) Bannister, age 77, was taken into the arms of her loving Lord and Savior on Monday, July 5 at 2:00 p.m. with her daughter by her side, at the Golden Living Center.

Dorothy was born in Marion, Indiana on September 22, 1932 to the late Milford and Edna (Bedwell) Jackson. She graduated from Sweetser High School in 1950.

In June 1953, she married Howard Wilson Bannister of Fairmount, Indiana. They had two daughters, Kimberly Bannister (Muncie) and Kara (husband Don) Boss (Kentucky).

Dorothy was a 63 year member of the Nelson Street Wesleyan Church for which her father Milford was a charter member along with seventeen others. She was taken to church from the time of her birth and received the Lord into her heart at an early age. She was a very happy person and talked about how much she loved the Lord. Dorothy loved to sing and play the piano. She passed along the many wonderful things her parents had taught her about the Lord and her family's Christian heritage to her daughters.

Shortly after graduating high school Dorothy began working for the Marion Office of Indiana Bell (later AT&T) and was employed for 35 years as a telephone operator.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Bannister of Muncie, Indiana, and Kara Boss (husband Don) of Kentucky; and grandson, Jeremy Howard Boss of Kentucky. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Bannister, parents, Milford and Edna (Bedwell) Jackson, brothers, Harold Jackson, Arthur Jackson and Richard Jackson; and sisters, Naomi Diskey, Oma Gross, Esther Pulley and Emma Mae Bedwell.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 9, at the Nelson Street Wesleyan Church, 1502 W. Nelson Street, Marion, Indiana.

Burial will be in Estates of Serenity, Marion, Indiana.

Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 8, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
