Dunreath Lee Vest, age 79, of Marion passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2019 in his home surrounded by family.
Lee was born on February 28, 1940 in Sand Lick, W. Virginia the son of the late Obie and Dona Jane (Bailey) Vest. He married Edith Stover on March 25, 1967 and she preceded him in death on March 14, 2017. He worked at General Tire for 35 years, retiring in 2001.
Lee was very social and loved to hang out with his friends and family. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, his favorite driver was Jimmie Johnson. He also liked playing cards and enjoyed mushroom hunting.
In 2007, he miraculously survived a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm; sadly, last year he suffered a second aneurysm from which he never fully recovered.
He is survived by a son, Curtis (Patty) Vest of Marion; two daughters, Lori (David) Dennison of Danville, Indiana and Melissa Vest of Marion; 3 grandchildren, Anthony, Laryssa and Brittni; 2 step-grandchildren, Rachel and Stephanie; 4 great-grandchildren, Elijah, Mylah, Aria and Sam; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Daniel; 4 half-sisters and two half-brothers.
Friends and family may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 24, 2019 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Matthew Trexler officiating.
