Eddie M. Oakerson, age 85, passed away at 5:10 p.m., Thursday, July 19, 2012, in his home.
Eddie was born October 10, 1926, in Marion, Indiana, the son of the late Allen and Myrtle (Shields) Oakerson. He married Ruth E. Long on August 22, 1948, and she preceded him in death on July 9, 2006.
Eddie was a U.S. Army veteran, and Co-Owner of Quality Vending, Inc. in Marion.
Survivors include: son, David M. Oakerson (Darlene) of Orlando, Florida; daughter, Janice L. DeLawter (Robert) of Gas City, Indiana; brother, Oakley Oakerson of Marion, Indiana; and grandchildren, Danelle Oakerson of Orlando, Florida, Lindsay DeLawter of Seattle, Washington, and Chris DeLawter of Muncie, Indiana.
Eddie was also preceded in death by a sisters, Lillie Cole, Mary Benham, and Anna Mae Oakerson; and brothers, Calvin, Claude and James Oakerson.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at First Baptist Church, 403 W. 4th. Street, Marion, Indiana, with Reverend Charlie Hall officiating.
Burial will be in Estates of Serenity, Marion, Indiana.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, July 23, 2012, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
