Edward E. Hacker, age 76, of Marion, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2010, at Heritage Pointe in Warren, Indiana.
Ed was born on May 6, 1934, in Marion, Indiana, the son of the late Charles and Josephine (Smith) Hacker. He was previously married to Barbara (Ryan) Hacker, who is the mother of his children.
Ed was a 1953 graduate of Marion High School where he played Varsity baseball and basketball. He was a machinist at Dana Corporation for 32 years until his retirement in 1987. He was also a stone and brick mason who was well known for the work he had done in Marion.
He was a member of the Dana Sympathy Club and various bowling leagues at Crest Lanes. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, was a coin collector and loved going to Casinos.
Survivors include: three sons, Steven E. Hacker (Chris) of Dover, Tennessee, Randal L. Hacker (Sheri) of Marion, Indiana, and Michael E. Hacker of Bloomington, Indiana; three grandchildren, David & Katie Hacker of Marion, Indiana and Desiree Hacker of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; two sisters, Donna Robey and Susan Schaumleffel (Gary), both of Marion, Indiana and special friend, Verna Burnett of Swayzee, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah K. Hacker on June 13, 2006.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 21, 2010, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, with the Reverend Tom Mansbarger officiating.
Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, Huntington County, Indiana.
