ELSIE L. NELSON, age 99, of Marion died at 1:25 p.m.Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at Colonial Oaks Health Care Center, Marion.

ELSIE was born September 30, 1908, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of the late George Jacob and Olivia (Green) Olson. She married Gilbert Nelson on June 14, 1930. He preceded her in death on December 7, 1994.

She was a bookkeeper and secretary/treasurer for Indiana Copper for 24 years, retiring in 1989.

She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church that later merged with Grace Lutheran Church formerly of Gas City, and is now the Resurrection Lutheran Church. She was also a member of Kappa Delta Phi; the YWCA; the Hostess House; the Hospital Auxiliary; and the Women's Organization of the Lutheran Church. She was also a volunteer at the Marion Easter Pageant for many years.

Survivors include three daughters, Joanne (John) Fray of Charlottesville, Virginia; Dianne (Don) Tillman of Northridge, California and Darlene (Keith) Burk of Kalamazoo, Michigan; 8 grandchildren & 14 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. Prayer Services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Paul Krebs officiating.

Friends may also call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, in the Chapel at Mt. Emblem Cemetery, County Line Road, Elmhurst, Illinois. A Funeral Service and Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Steven Greske officiating.
