Evelyn N. Mccollum

Evelyn N. McCollum, age 90, passed away at 4:15 a.m. Monday, April 12, 2010, at Twin City Health Care, Gas City.

Evelyn was born on May 29, 1919, in Bath County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Jim and Stella (Jones) Spencer. She married Hubert McCollum in 1945 and he preceded her in death in August 1998.

She was a member of the Nelson Street Wesleyan Church where she was very active in the "Best Years Fellowship", the choir and various other functions and activities of the church. Evelyn enjoyed cooking and was very family-oriented.

Survivors include Son, James E. Riddle (Sharon) of Marion, Indiana; Daughters, Bettie R. King of Kentucky and Nancy L. King of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; Sisters, Lake McCarty of Paris, Kentucky and Lela Fischer (Richard) of Cincinnati, Ohio; 7 grandchildren, Joe King (Angie), Tim King (Joni), Jeff Riddle, Pam Garrison (Tom), Kelly Thornsberry (John), Gretchen Littlefield (Dave) and Jamie King; 6 great-grandchildren, Carla Thompson, Ryan King (Christie), Elia King (Dena), Erin King, Kevin King, and Lauren Scharer; & two great-great grandchildren, Isaiah Thompson and Cecilia King.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mable Spence and Lara Cornett and brother, David Spencer.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 16, 2010, at Nelson Street Wesleyan Church, 1502 W. Nelson Street, with the Reverend Bill Thompson officiating.

Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, Huntington County, Indiana.

Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 15 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
