Fairy A. (Barnes) Herring

Fairy A. (Barnes) Herring, age 78, passed away Monday, March 10, 2014, at Marion General Hospital, Marion, Indiana.
Fairy was born June 21, 1935, in Marion, Indiana, the daughter of the late Franklin "Buck" Barnes and Jeanette (Bell) Barnes. She married Melvin Herring on October 31, 1952, and he survives. She was a homemaker.
Fairy was a member of the Sweet Adelines, Euchre Club, and was a Boy Scouts Leader and Den Mother. She enjoyed bowling and was President of the Wednesday Afternoon Ladies League. She ran the concession stand at Lincoln Field, was secretary of Jobs Daughters, and was involved in her children's activities while they were in school. She loved flowers and bird-watching.
Survivors include: her husband of 61 years, Melvin Herring of Marion, Indiana; three daughters, Cara (John) Martin of Hemphill, Texas, Cheryl (George) Likens of Marion, Indiana, and Lucinda (Mike) Parsons of Indianapolis, Indiana; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Barnes of Marion, Indiana and Barbara Herring Daily of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; grandchildren, Brandy (Dwayne) Goad, Christy (David) Yoder, Joseph Herring, Cassandra (Todd) Korporal, Louis (Crystal) Herring, and Ryan Herring; step-grandchildren; and great-grandchildren, Taylor, Caroline, Paige, Trent, Ty, Korbin Allen, Tori, Hailey, Audrey, and Kora Lynn.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Melvin "Skip" Herring; sister, Judy Lanternier; mother-in-law, Marian Herring; father-in-law, Edwin Herring; brother, Ted Barnes; and brother-in-law, Robbie Herring.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2014, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana with Reverend Tom Mansbarger officiating.
Burial will be in Estates of Serenity, Marion, Indiana.
Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 13, in the funeral home.
