Florine B. Martin

Florine “Grandma” Martin passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on Friday, December 16, 2016 in Marion, Indiana at the age of 94.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Kerry Clevenger; grandchildren, Kellie and Tim Street of Marion, Travis Martin of Warsaw, and Kasey and Kellee Clevenger of Carmel; and great-grandchildren, Shelby Martin, Macie and Jake McCarthy, Emily and Ryan Clevenger, and Logan and Madelyn Street.  She is also survived by nieces and nephews,  Gladys Jones, Brenda and Elmer Sandlin, Sharon and Keith Hardacre, Jeff and Marilyn Goff, Louann and Rick Mollett, Linley and Jody Martin, Marshal Martin (deceased Shelly), and Janet and Dennis Manley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and Oscar Goff, husband James Edward Martin, brothers O.G. and Dewey Goff and sister in law Iona Goff, son James Melvin Martin, and her nephew Steve Goff and niece Kim Manly.

Florine was born on September 28, 1922 in Heber Springs, Arkansas, and married Ed Martin on April 20th 1939. She was a hardworking mother and grandmother who always put family first.  She worked at Crest Lanes Bowling Center for 22 years until she was 86 years old. Everyone knew her as “grandma”. She never had a bad day and always had a positive attitude. Her motto was “we’ll make the best of it”, and she said that during her final days in the hospital.

The funeral is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 20th. at Raven Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. The viewing will be held on Monday, December 19, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Reverend Tom Mansbarger will officiate the ceremony and all are welcome to attend and celebrate Florine’s life.

Burial will immediately follow the funeral service on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 in Thrailkill Cemetery, Swayzee, Indiana.
