Garnet C. (Lewis) Nelson

GARNET C. (LEWIS) NELSON, age 95, went home to be with her Lord at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2009, at Colonial Oaks Health Care Center.
GARNET was born on April 17, 1914, in Marion, the daughter of the late Henry and Maudie (Gorham) Drake. She married Vern J. Lewis, who preceded her in death in 1972. She then married John Nelson, who also preceded her in death in 2006.
She was a Sales Clerk & Assistant Manager for Hills Mens Store for 25 Years, retiring in 1974.
Garnet was a member of The First Church of God, was State treasurer of the Church of God Missionary Society, a member of Mississinewa Chapter #94 O.E.S., and the Van Buren American Legion Auxillary, Post #368.
Survivors include: Sons, Bill Lewis (Roma) and Paul Lewis (Anita), both of Marion; Daughters: Shirley Lostutter (Fred) of Marion, and Patricia Stanley (Robert) of Anderson; Sister, Betty Scheerer of Marion; 10 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchldren; and 1 Great Great Grandchild.
She was preceded in death by Brothers: Paul and Henry Drake; and Sisters: Delores Nelson & Elizabeth Dennis.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, with Pastors Tom South and Greg Clark officiating.
Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, Huntington County, Indiana.
Friends may call from 4 - 8 p.m., Monday, August 10 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
