Gemma "Lola" Battishill

Gemma "Lola" Battishill, age 88, of Marion, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at 12:28 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at Miller's Merry Manor, in Marion.
Lola was born on June 22, 1923, in Naples, Italy, the daughter of the late Giuseppina Maresca. She married Bert C. Battishill on October 28, 1946, and he preceded her in death on June 16, 1989.
Lola enjoyed collecting decorative dolls and listening to all kinds of music, but especially opera. She also loved to knit, and spend time with her granchildren. Lola was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Gas City.
Survivors include: son, Bert L. Battishill (Paulette) of Gas City, Indiana; three daughters, Mary Jo Sapp (William) of Alpine, Tennessee, Deanna McIntyre (John) of Marion, Indiana, and Harriet Engstrom (Richard) of Crossville, Tennessee; 6 grandchildren & 16 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by 2 great-grandchildren, Cody and Teegan Sapp.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2011, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, with the Father Richard Weisenberger officiating.
Burial will be in Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Indiana at a later date.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 4, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
