GEORGE J. GUTZWILLER, age 75, of Marion died at 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at home.
GEORGE was born on April 20, 1933, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of the late George H. Gutzwiller and Catherine R. (Niehaus) Gutzwiller. He married Janet Clevenger on August 31, 1952. She survives.
He was a mold maker at Owens Illinois Glass Company for 30 years and then worked in tool & die at Chrysler Corporation for 12 years until his retirement in 1998. He was an Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member and cantor at St. Paul Catholic Church and the Holy Family Catholic Church in Gas City. He was also a member of the Secular Franciscans. He perfomed at the Marion Civic Theatre. He enjoyed singing at St. Paul Catholic Church and the Holy Family Catholic Church and his voice was an inspiration to many.
Survivors include his Wife of 56 years, Janet Gutzwiller of Marion, Indiana; Daughter, Nancy Concepcion (Carlos) of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; Brother, Charles Gutzwiller (Mary) of Cincinnati, Ohio; Sisters, Dorothy Payne and Agnes Schunk, both of Cincinnati, Ohio; numerous nieces & nephews and 5 grand pets.
He was preceded in death by a son, George Charles Gutzwiller and three brothers, Tony, John & Richard Gutzwiller.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2008, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1009 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana, with Father Richard Weisenberger and Father Joseph Grace officiating.
Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, Huntington County, Indiana.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 6 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. A Rosary Service will be held at 8:00 p.m.
