George McQueen Kilmer, age 83, of Marion, passed away at 11:00 p.m., Monday, August 6, 2012, at Miller's Merry Manor, Marion, Indiana.
George was born on August 1, 1929, in Florence, Italy, to the late Sally McQueen Kilmer. He married Gloria Jean Tarr on May 20, 1989, and she survives.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, and was a Corrective Therapist at the VA Medical Center in Marion until his retirement.
He was a member of the Richland Chapel United Methodist Church; Indiana Bicycle Coalition; League of American Bicyclists; and the Nature Conservancy. George enjoyed inventing items that were then patented.
Survivors include: wife, Gloria Jean Kilmer of Marion, Indiana; sister, Pamela Sybil Chase of Orleans, Massachusettes; and two nieces, Florence Chaigne of San Francisco, California, and Kristy (Rob) Clayborn of Portland, Maine.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sally McQueen Kilmer, father, Donald Kilmer, and sister, Donnatello Chaigne.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 10, 2012, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana with Pastors Carolyn Mikesell and Zachary Manton officiating.
Entombment will be in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 9, 2012, and from 10:00 a.m. until services on Friday, August 10, in the funeral home.
