Gladys Mae Bartling

Gladys Mae (Londt) Clark Bartling, passed away Friday, April 27, 2012, at Shell Point, Ft. Myers, Florida at the age of 90.

Gladys was born on July 10, 1921, in Columbia City, Whitley County, Indiana. She graduated from Larwill High School in 1939, and from Warsaw Beauty College. In 1943, she married Gale Clark of N. Manchester Indiana, while he was stationed in Miami Florida. They lived in Florida, California, New Mexico, Arkansas, and Indiana. Wherever he was stationed, she worked as a beautician.

In 1946 they moved to Upland, Indiana and established a barber and beauty shop. They retired in 1973 and took two years to travel around the U.S. They settled in Indian Creek Park, Fort Myers Beach, Florida. Gale fished 3 times a week and Gladys cooked his catch. He passed away in 1992, just shy of their 50th wedding anniversary.

Gladys is survived by her sister, Pauline (Max) Kohr of Deerfield, Michigan; nieces, Jill (Mark) Gawronski and Nancy (Chad) Christoffer; grand-niece, Emily Gawronski. Gale and Gladys were blessed to have many nieces and nephews from Indiana. Preceding her in death were her brother, Charles, infant brother, George, husband, Gale Clark and second husband, Glenn Bartling.

Gladys belonged to the Order of Eastern Star in Upland, Indiana. After marriage to Glenn Bartling, she enjoyed accompanying him as he traveled the country with the Araba Shriners. Gladys was active in Daughters of the Nile at Araba Temple, Ft. Myers, and participated in the Dragon Lady's Egyptian band. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Beach Shrine Club in Ft. Myers Beach. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and family.

Order of Eastern Star Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. Funeral Services will follow with Reverend Tom Mansbarger officiating.

Burial will be in Grant Memorial Park, Marion, Indiana.

Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until services at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home on Saturday.
