Gloria A. Shedlak

GLORIA A. SHEDLAK, age 80, of Marion passed away peacefully at home March 8, 2008 at 6:45 a.m. after an extended illness.

Gloria was born on June 11, 1927, in Gary, Indiana, the daughter of the late Edward and Exzelia (Charbonneau) Benoit. She was a graduate of Merrillville High School. Gloria lived in Marion much of her life, after marrying her husband of 57 years, Richard J. Shedlak on September 9, 1950.

Gloria was previously employed as a librarian at Bennett High School. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and was active in several religious and civic organizations in Marion.

She is survived by her husband, Richard J. Shedlak of Marion, Indiana; son, Curtis and daughter-in-law, Ann of Bloomington, Indiana; son, Charles and daughter-in-law, Cathy Pieronek of South Bend, Indiana; daughter, Cynthia of Marion, Indiana; grandchildren, Craig of Sheppard AFB, Texas, Megan of Bloomington, Indiana, Daniel of Lafayette, Indiana and Brendan & Nathan of Marion, Indiana; brothers, Douglas of Minnesota, Edward of Wisconsin & Mark of California; sisters, Margie of Crown Point, Indiana, Betty Lou of New Mexico & Joanie of Tucson, Arizona.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at St Paul Catholic Church, with Father Joseph Grace and Father Richard Weisenberger officiating.

Burial will be in Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.

Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 10 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. A Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul Catholic Church, 1009 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
