GUY E. SMITH, age 53, of Marion lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, June 12, 2010.
GUY was born March 8, 1957, in Zanesville, Ohio, the son of the late Rodney A. "Dutch" Smith and Lonetta Elaine (Smith) Hillman.
Guy served in the U.S. Navy and had traveled to 16 different countries during his time in the military. He then worked at the Marion VA Hospital for 13 years until his retirement.
Survivors include: his mother, L. Elaine Hillman of Swayzee, Indiana; two sisters, Peggy Binnion (Richard) of Swayzee, Indiana, and Teresa Black of Indianapolis, Indiana; three nieces, Sandra McClung of Indianapolis, Indiana, Angela Smith of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and Deedra McClung of Fishers, Indiana.
Guy also leaves behind, a "special cousin", Dean Chaney; a very special friend, Karen Davidson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; and his dog and companion, "Buster". Rick Binnion was more than a brother-in-law, he has been a very special caregiver from the beginning of Guy's illness.
"May you now rest in peace, for God has ended all of your suffering and lifted you to a better place".
He was also preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, with Pastor Kenny Binnion officiating.
Burial will be in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
