HARVEY MARVIN HANTHORN, age 87, of Hartford City, went to be with his Heavenly Father at 12:40 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009.
He was born in Dayton, Ohio to the late Harvey and Vivian (Hoop) Hanthorn. He was a US Army veteran, serving during WWII. He married Hazel Boucher on November 29, 1949. She preceded him in death on September 21, 2004.
Harvey lived in Marion most of his life and has since resided in Hartford City for the last 35 years. He was employed at Peerless Machine, and owned and operated Tu Your Door Pizza for 21 years before retiring in 1995.
He was a member of the Amvets and a former member of the Blackford Baptist Temple Church where he was an integral part of its formation. He enjoyed woodworking and was an avid craftsman.
Survivors include: daughter, Marilyn Dennis of Hartford City, Indiana; son, Melvin Hanthorn of Marion, Indiana; brother, Harry Hanthorn of Marion, Indiana; sister, Marry Ann Hanthorn of Washington; grandchildren, Jeff Hanthorn of Marion, Indiana, Tony Dennis of Hartford City, Indiana, Tonya (Jody) Bilbrey of Hartford City, Indiana, Lesa (Tim) Kistler of Jonesboro, Indiana, Amy (Lucio) Rendon of Marion, Indiana, and Angie Hanthorn of Sweetser, Indiana; daughter-in-law, Catherine Hanthorn of Marion, Indiana; and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Marvin Hanthorn, brothers, Joe, John & Willie Hanthorn, sisters, Marjorie Lahr, Vivian McMillan, Geneva Lines and brothers-in-law, Jerry and Don Boucher.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 3, 2009, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, with Allen Reagan officiating.
Burial with full military rites will be in Grant Memorial Park, Marion, Indiana.
