Helen G. "Gerry" King

October 26, 1918 — February 29, 2016

Helen G. "Gerry" King, age 97, of Marion, Indiana passed away Monday, February 29, 2016 in Colonial Oaks Health Care Center.

She was born on October 26, 1918, the oldest of 12 children, in Grant County, Indiana to the late L. Fred and Charleen (Carl) Nelson. She married Paul H. King on June 26, 1937, and he preceded her in death on August 4, 2003.

Gerry was secretary and treasurer of Paul King Construction until her retirement in 1982. She was also a former board member of the Hostess House.

She is survived by a son, Dr. Paul H. King II (Kanani); two daughters, Linda Beaty (Lazar) and Sonnie Dwyer (P.D.); a sister, Joyce Colyer (Larry); 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by siblings, Harold Nelson, Don Nelson, Dick Nelson, Delores Greek, Jean Ann Parker, Carl Nelson, Barbara Unger, Patty Denny, Pauline Tinkle and Sherman Nelson.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2016 in Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana with Ron Forsythe officiating.

Burial will immediately follow funeral services in Estates of Serenity, Marion, Indiana.

Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, in the funeral home prior to funeral services.

Because of her great respect for five of her brothers that served in the military, in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the U.S.O.; or to a Veteran's organization of the donor's choice.
