Helen L. (Kreischer) Shiner

Helen L. Shiner, age 94, passed away Sunday May 2, 2024, at Colonial Oakes Senior Living, Marion. She was born in Hartford City and January 31, 1930, the daughter of the late Roy and Lillie (Schwarzkopf) Kreischer. She married O. James Shiner, and he preceded her in death on June 9, 2012.

Helen worked in food service for Mississinewa School Corp. where she enjoyed baking and preparing desserts for the children. She was also a Past Worthy Matron and former member of the Order of the Eastern Star #21, Jonesboro, and currently a member of the Swayzee Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star #345.

She is survived by two daughters: Deborah Marroni of Marion and Susan (Terry) Fidder of Medway, OH, three grandchildren: Richard (Aimee) Marroni of Marion, Melissa Brown of Marion, and Jennifer (David) Hienbokel of New Carlisle, OH, six great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Helen is preceded in death by one son-in-law Ernest Marroni.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday May 11, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Raven Choate Robinson Funeral Home, 1202 W Kem Rd., Marion, IN 46952. An Eastern Star Service will be held immediately following visitation at 7:00 PM. Burial will be at Marion National Cemetery at a later date.
