Iva M. Lake, age 91, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015, at Marion Rehab, Marion, Indiana.
Iva was born on November 9, 1923, in Windsor, Canada, the daughter of the late Royce and Ida (Caughnaugh) Nightenhelser. She married Bert Lake on February 14, 1943, and he preceded her in death on October 18, 2002.
Iva worked as a dietician for the Oak Hill School Corporation until her retirement. She also worked very hard as a farmer.
She was a member of the Eastern Star and had received her 50 year pin. She loved the farm life and working at the schools. Iva was an awesome grandma and was an avid lover of cats and dogs. Her life motto was: "If you can't say something nice, don't say it at all".
Survivors include; son, Michael Lake of Las Vegas, Nevada; two daughters, Nancy (Robert) Younce of Sweetser, Indiana, and Carol Murphy of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren, Teve (Pat) Gorman, Lori Lasak, Robert M. (Tara Timberlake) Younce, Steve Younce, Michael (Krista) Murphy, and Christopher (Carrie) Murphy; great-grandchildren, Mattie, Cody (Cara), Briana, Kaitelyn, Olivia, Brooke, Patrick, Ryan, Lauren, Brook and Zach; and her little dog, Paris.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Vernon Nightenhelser, sister, Ellen Kuffman, and son-in-law, Ron Murphy.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to her caregiver, Stephanie Lawson and her son, Jackson.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana with Pastor Ryan McCarthy officiating.
Burial will follow funeral services in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 13, in the funeral home.
