Jack D. Grose, died at his home at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, April 18, 2010 with his family around him.
Jack was born on February 7, 1931, in Marion, Indiana. He attended Marion High School until he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served 9 years in the Army throughout Europe with the 97th Signal Corp. He retired from Glass Containers in Gas City where he was employed as a machinist.
He was a life member of the Gas City VFW and a life member of the 97th Signal Corp. Association. He was an avid golfer before suffering a stroke 14 years ago. He and his wife loved to travel. Jack loved to watch the world through the picture window of their home, enjoying the birds, squirrels and neighbor kids.
Jack married Sue A. Plummer on March 21, 1959 and they recently celebrated their 51st Wedding Anniversary.
Jack is survived by his wife, Sue Grose; daughter, Trina Winegardner; son, Jack E. Grose, all of Marion, Indiana; special daughter-in-law, Lesa Grose of Anderson, Indiana; grandson, Michael (Elise) Winegardner and great-grandson, Braidan Reese Winegardner of Tallahassee, Florida. He had special friends, Becky Manning, Steve & Sherie Berry, Don & Marcie Beckman, Annie Winegardner.
In keeping with Jack's wishes, there will be no viewing or funeral services. Local arrangements will be handled by Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. Private graveside Services will be held at Marion National Cemetery at a later date.
Family and friends are invited to a Casual Celebration Of Life that will be held at the Roseburg Event Center, 2983 W. 38th. Street, Marion, Indiana on Friday, April 30, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
