Jack McIlwain, age 87, of Marion, passed away at 8:08 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2016 in Marion General Hospital.
Jack was born on April 22, 1929, in Marion, Indiana, the son of the late Everett and Goldie (Simmons) McIlwain. He married Lorna Dean Mason on April 17, 1954, and she preceded him in death on February 6, 2013. He was an Army veteran serving from 1954 to 1956 and was a self-employed farmer until his retirement.
Jack was a member of the Jalapa United Methodist Church, the Pleasant Township Farm Club, and a member of a Euchre Club. He was also a 32nd Degree member of the LaFontaine Masonic Lodge, the Shriners, Scottish Rite and a former worthy patron of the Eastern Star.
He is survived by two sons, John (Debbie) McIlwain and Greg McIlwain, both of Marion, Indiana; grandchildren, Megan (Matt) Bishir of Greentown, Indiana, John "JJ" McIlwain of West Virginia, Jack A. McIlwain of Marion, Indiana, and Michael McIlwain of Marion, Indiana; and 6 great-grandchildren, Annabele McIlwain, Mya McIlwain, and Ava, Elle, Sawyer and Kinley Bishir.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2016 in Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. Burial with military honors will immediately follow funeral services in Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Indiana at 11:00 a.m.
