James Edward "Eddie" Byrd

April 10, 1949 — June 3, 2016

James Edward "Eddie" Byrd, age 67, of Marion, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2016 in Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

He was born on April 10, 1949 in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky the son of the late Omer and Hazel (Curry) Byrd. He married Edna Burnham on August 8, 1979, and she survives. Eddie enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, drinking his coffee and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Byrd; two daughters, Denise Shrout (John), and Deanna Altman (Ricky); a brother, Omer Byrd; sisters, Lula Holder (Jackie) and Lilly Harkness (Slim); brothers-in-law, Wayne, David, Lee and Gary Burnham; 12 grandchildren, Jennifer Jordan, Ashley Thien, Amber Thien, Brittney Shrout, Stephanie O'Donnell, John Shrout, Jr., Emily Shrout, Sierra Altman, Meagan Altman, Joseph Altman, and Taylor Altman; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and close friends, Jimbo Rothwell, David O'Donnell, Jerimiah Johnson, and Donnie Huddleston.

He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tiffney Shrout; and tw0 sisters, Rachel Shepard (Charles) and Anna Mae Grump (Gene).

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2016 in Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana with Reverend Tom Mansbarger officiating.

Burial will immediately follow funeral services in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.

Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home prior to the funeral service.
