James E. Cornett

James Cornett, age 49, passed away Friday April 19, 2024, in Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born October 22, 1974, in Marion, the son of Judy and Ron McKinley, and Terry and Cynthia Pence.

He was a technician at Best One Tire Downtown, Marion. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He had a love for Harley Davidson and owned a chopper when he was younger. James enjoyed camping with his friends and hanging out around the campfire. He also enjoyed sports of all kinds and could often be found watching a ballgame at home with his dad. James had a big heart and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He will be deeply missed.

In addition to his parents, James is survived by five brothers: Jason (Tonya Cole) Dill, Ron (Shona) McKinley Jr., Jon (CJ) Pence, Eric Pence, and Terry Pence Jr., three sisters Melissa (DeWayne) Harding, Heather Hendrickson, and Danielle (Dan Chandler) Howell, special friends: Jamie (Connie) Plummer, Jim (Kim) Bantz, and Matt (Amanda) Taylor, along with several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and many nieces and nephews.

James is preceded in death by his brother Randy Pence, Grandma and Grandpa Cornett and Grandma and Grandpa Pence.

Visitation for family and friends will be Friday April 26, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Raven Choate Robinson Funeral Home, 1202 W Kem Rd., Marion. Funeral service will be Saturday April 27, 2024, at 1:00 PM with visitation one hour prior to services, at the funeral home. Chaplain Bill Sparks will officiate.
