James R. Farr, age 79, of Marion passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2019.
James was born January 2, 1940 in Muncie, Indiana the son of the late James M. and Katherine L. (Kem) Farr. He was a 1958 graduate of Marion High School and loved Marion Giants basketball. He had season tickets during the "Purple Reign" era. He married Rebecca Lines on June 30th, 1961. He was a devoted Husband, Father and Grandfather and loved his family dearly.
He worked at the U.S. Post Office in Marion, IN for forty-two years until his retirement in 2002. He was a proud member and also served as President of the APWU Local 1077. James was a devoted member or the Temple Congregational Church in Marion and loved his church. He was a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, the Indianapolis Colts and IU Basketball.
James is survived by his wife, Rebecca A. Farr of Marion; two sons, Timothy Farr of Marion and Aaron (Jasmine) Farr of Gas City; a daughter, Lori (Jerry) Bishir of Marion; Ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Patrick B. Farr; a granddaughter, Amanda L. Farr; and a great-granddaughter; Amaia J. Mitchell.
Friends and family may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Jahn officiating.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to Riley Children’s Hospital, 705 Riley Hospital Drive, Indianapolis, Indiana 46202.
