JAMES O. "JIM" GIBSON, age 85, of Marion, died at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2009, at Wesleyan Health Care Center, Marion.
Jim was born June 22, 1923, in Fairmount, Indiana, the son of the late Lawrence and Ava (Butler) Gibson. On June 27, 1947, he married Joan Goodman. She survives.
He was a WWII Army veteran. He worked as a service technician at G.A.F./Ozalid Corporation for 32 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of Grace Community Church and the American Legion Post 10, Marion.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Joan Gibson of Marion, Indiana; daughter, Susan Rudy (Steven) of Hawthorne, Florida; brother, Bob Gibson (Louise) of Converse, Indiana; step-brother, Larry Sutton (Sandy) of Amboy, Indiana; step-sister, Marjorie Bates (Howard) of Sevierville, Tennessee; and 2 granddaughters, Diana Rudy of Muncie, Indiana and Elisa Meredith (Brian) of Fishers, Indiana.
He was also preceded in death by step-mother, Katherine Gibson, sister, Virginia Moon and step-sister, Joann Oden.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 23, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, with Reverend Tom Mansbarger officiating.
Burial with Military Honors will be in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
