Jane Ann Winchell, age 62, embraced by her faithful and loving dog, Princess, passed away January 10, 2014, at her Marion residence.
Born on August 10, 1951, she was the daughter of Samuel O. and Anna (Yeager) Winchell of Marion. She was a 1969 graduate of Marion High School and attended Indiana University of Kokomo.
Miss Mitchell was an excellent cook and seamstress. During her lifetime she was variously employed at Marion Community Schools, Rolling Meadows Healthcare, JoAnn Fabrics, and many of the finer men's clothing stores in Marion.
She was active in the American Business Women's Association where she was Woman of the Year, the Order of Eastern Star, and the International Order of Job's Daughters.
During the Christmas season she was known for distributing boxes of wonderful chocolate covered cherry candies that she had made to her various friends and acquaintances. Sadly, she took the time to call each of them that she was not up to the task this year.
In death, as in life, she gave leaving her entire estate to be distributed among the Community Foundation of Grant County, Indiana Masonic Home Foundation, and the American Business Women's Association.
Survivors include her faithful companion Princess, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Sammy Kaye Winchell, and grandparents.
There will be no calling. Graveside Services will be held on Monday, January 20, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion, Indiana with Reverend Tom Mansbarger officiating.
