Janet (Chapman) Byer

Janet (Chapman) Byer, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015, at Metropolitan Hospital, Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Janet was born on February 17, 1933, in Marion, Indiana, the daughter of the late Wilbur and Opal (Stuckey) Chapman. She married Lawrence Byer on October 18, 1953, and he preceded her in death on August 24, 2014.
Janet was a cashier at Meijer for 35 years until her retirement. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and friends from church. Janet also liked to crochet and play games with friends.
Survivors include: son, Jeffrey (Tina) Byer of Grand Rapids, Michigan; two daughters, Teresa (Paul) Ickes of Grandville, Michigan, and Lawrene "Lauri" Byer of Wyoming, Michigan; brother, Larry (Shirley) Chapman of Marion, Indiana; two half-brothers, Ed (Jan) Chapman and Tim (Sharron) Chapman, both of Wisconsin; sister, Phyllis (Dave) Sinclair of Indiana; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Valerie Byer-Sosh.
Funeral Services will be held at noon Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana with Reverend Tom Mansbarger officiating.
Burial will follow funeral services in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until noon, Tuesday, March 17, 2015, in the funeral home prior to funeral services.
