Jerry Alan Boen, age 63, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at the VA Hospital, Marion, Indiana.
Jerry was born February 6, 1954 in Marion, Indiana to Edward and Bonnie (Correll) Boen. He graduated Marion High School and then entered the Army. He served in Hawaii during the Vietnam Conflict as a M.P. Jerry then worked in construction in California and Florida and as a nurse’s aide at the Marion VA Hospital.
Jerry enjoyed woodworking and was very crafty. He made boards to hold all of the state quarters. He also loved to fish, swim and hike through the woods at the reservoir when he was younger. Jerry was a member of the AMVETS Post 5 in Marion.
He is survived by his daughter, Carla (Elvin) Jackson and grandson, Isaiah Thompson of Marion; his former wife, Pam Garrison of Gas City; brother, Edward (Pam) Boen of Marion; sister, Susan (Tim) Schaufelberger of Oklahoma and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Bonnie Boen, his younger brother, Ray “Buster” Boen and niece, Stephanie Boen.
Friends and family may call from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 in Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. Funeral Services will follow at noon with Reverend Tom Mansbarger officiating.
Burial with military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. in Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
