Joan C. Grant, age 84, passed away December 23, 2011, at Wesleyan Health Care Center following a brief illness.
She was born August 13, 1927, in LaFontaine, Indiana, to the late Alva and Nora (Parlett) Lobdell. She was a lifelong resident of the Marion area and retired from Jones Junior High School in 1996 were she worked in the cafeteria. She was a member of the First Friends Church, Golden Band Class and USFW. She was also the Treasurer of the Joyce A. Circle.
Joan is survived by two daughters: Lynelle Aldridge (Steve) of Marion, and Patty Furr (Robert) of Hartsville, South Carolina; daughter-in-law, Sandy Grant of Gas City; sister-in-law, Lolita Lobdell of Marion; 7 grandchildren, Stacy Summitt, Brad Buckler, Vanessa Hadley, John Buckler, Angela Furr, Sheila Bean, and Johnny Furr; 11 great-grandchildren; two nieces, Linda Flinn (Pat) and Marsha Lobdell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Shafer "Shaf" Grant; her parents; a son, Don Grant; brother, Eugene Lobdell; and sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Kyler.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 29, 2011, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana, with Pastors Dane Leitch and Matthew Trexler officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Estates of Serenity, Marion, Indiana.
