Joan "George" Reeves, a beloved member of the Marion community, was called to her heavenly home on January 15, 2025, at Colonial Oaks Healthcare. Born on May 27, 1935, in Marion, she lived a life filled with love, devotion, and faith, leaving an indelible mark all who knew her.
Known affectionately as "George," Joan was a cherished homemaker, dedicating her life to nurturing her family and creating a warm, loving home where countless memories were made. She graduated from Marion High School and carried the lessons of her education throughout her life, continuously thirsting for knowledge and wisdom.
Joan was a woman of deep faith, finding great joy in reading her Bible and singing praises to The Lord. Her love for God was evident in every aspect of her life, guiding her actions and her relationships. She not only cherished the quiet moments of reflection but also found immense joy in sharing her gifts with others. She loved to cook, often preparing meals that brought family and friends together around the table, creating a sense of belonging and warmth.
Visiting with neighbors was another of Joan's delights, as she valued the connections that bind us together as a community. Her laughter and kind spirit made her a beloved figure among those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Joan leaves behind a loving family that includes her devoted sons, Charles M. (Debra) Barber, Janssen L. (Kim) Barber, Jeffrey C. (Karen) Barber, her compassionate daughters, Drs. Michelle (Allerick) Knight and Jolynn (Leon) Barbee, as well as her son-in-law, Robert Richard. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren were blessed to call her "Mom" and "Nana." Her legacy of love and faith will continue to resonate through the generations that follow.
Though sorrow washes over family and friends in the wake of her passing, they take solace in their cherished memories of Joan and her unwavering spirit. She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Alberta Reeves, as well as her daughters Kim C. McCoy and Tonetta Richard, and her sister Ruth Anne Nash. Each of them carries a piece of her with them, reminding us all of the profound love that transcends even the greatest of losses.
