John T. "Johnnie" Duncan, age 91, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2013.
Johnnie was born on February 16, 1922, in Knightstown, Indiana, the son of the late Hobart and Lucille Irene (Williams) Duncan. He married Alice Marion Ailman on November 15, 1941, and she preceded him in death. He was an Army veteran serving as a Tech Sgt. in the Army Signal Corp during WWII in Europe.
Johnnie was hired at Marion Tool Corporation on Election Day in 1940, and Johnnie always said: "The same day FDR got a job!" He was a member of the Isaac Walton League and enjoyed woodworking.
Survivors include: two sons, Terry (Patricia) Duncan of Marion, Indiana, and Michael (Jill) Duncan of Marion, Indiana; daughter, Joan (Bob) Linville of Oregon, Ohio; brother, Bobby Hoppes of Fort Worth, Texas; sister, Mary (Roy) Darrah of Marion, Indiana; four grandchildren, Susan Linville, Shellie (Paul) Landry, Jeff Linville, and Jennifer Goolsby; and 6 great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
He was also preceded in death by brothers, William Duncan, James Hoppes and David Hoppes; and sisters, Louise Davis, Mary Cathern Miller and Ruth Hughs.
Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 8, 2013, at Gardens of Memory, with Minister Jay Sollars officiating.
Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, Huntington County, Indiana.
Friends may call from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, November 7, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
