Jon R. Marler, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on December 6, 2024, in Indianapolis, Indiana, at the age of 74. Born on August 16, 1950 in Indianapolis, he brought joy and laughter to the lives of everyone he encountered.

Jon dedicated himself to his career as the owner of Midwest Distribution, where he exemplified what it meant to be a problem solver, embedding the principles of respect and kindness into every interaction. His natural ability to command a room, accompanied by his contagious laugh, ensured that he never met a stranger. Through his years, he touched many lives, and those who were fortunate enough to know him will remember his warm spirit and great sense of humor.

Education was important to Jon, and he graduated with a BS in Business from Indiana State University, a foundation that helped him excel in all his endeavors. His leadership qualities extended beyond work; he proudly served as President of the Marion City Council and was actively involved in coaching youth sports, particularly with the Marion Lightning. Jon’s commitment to his community was further demonstrated through his memberships in the Rotary Club, the Aero Club, and the Meshingomesia Country Club, where he built meaningful relationships and contributed to the betterment of those around him.

A devoted family man, Jon cherished spending time with his loved ones. He created countless memories during family gatherings, particularly during the holidays when laughter and togetherness filled the air. One of Jon's favorite pastimes was enjoying the natural beauty of Lake Wawasee with his family, a place where many special moments were shared. His passion for traveling allowed him to explore various corners of the world, but his heart always held a special place for Chicago, where he loved watching the Cubs play at the historic Wrigley Field. A true sports enthusiast, he was also an avid fan of the Indiana Hoosiers and the Chicago Bears, never missing an opportunity to cheer for his teams.

Jon is survived by his loving wife, Becky Marler, and his three devoted sons, Scott (Jillian) Marler, Jason Marler, and Jon Marler Jr. He leaves behind a cherished sister, Stephanie (Robert) Foster, and is remembered as a proud grandfather to Calvin, Eden, and Beau Marler. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Pauline Marler, who instilled in him the values he upheld throughout his life.

A visitation will be held on December 13, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a memorial service from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, both at Raven Choate Robinson Funeral Home in Marion, Indiana. Father Ted Rothrock will officiate.
