On the 28th of November, 2024, the world lost a stalwart figure, Lee L. "Master Guns" Schultz Jr., a dedicated soldier and loving family man. Born on October 27, 1951, in Marion, Indiana, Lee embodied the spirit of patriotism, tirelessly serving his country as a Master Gunnery Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps for an impressive 27 years before retiring on July , 2001. His unwavering commitment to the ideals for which he fought was evident to all who knew him.
Lee's time on this earth was marked by an ever-present love for his country, woven into the very fabric of his being. He was a proud member of organizations such as the American Legion Post 10, AmVets Post 5, VFW Post 7403, and the DAV. Lee also served with honor in the Grant County Honor Guard, embodying the legacy of those who have sacrificed for their nation.
In addition to the accolades of military service, Lee was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Rebecca Schultz. Together they built a life filled with love and dedication to family. Lee's legacy continues through his children: Frank (Christina) Lopez, Angela (Josh Purvis) Schultz, and Crystale Schultz. He treasured his role as a father and took immense pride in the accomplishments of his family, nurturing the bonds that held them together. He is also survived by his beloved sister Autumn Schultz and his nephew Troy Garrett.
He had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren: Jessica Hunt, Zachary Hunt, Vincent Purvis, Ava Purvis, Frankie Lopez III, and Mateo Lopez, who will carry forward his strong spirit and values. Lee was also honored to have several great-grandchildren who brought joy and light into his life.
Lee is now reunited with those who have gone before him, including his parents, Lee L. (Marilyn) Schultz Sr., and his sister, Teresa Schultz. Their spirits surely embrace him in a warm welcome, reminding him of the love and camaraderie that is everlasting.
A visitation will be held on December 5, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Raven Choate Robinson Funeral Home in Marion, Indiana. This will be followed by a funeral service at 11:30 AM, where friends and family will gather to celebrate Lee’s remarkable life. The day will culminate in a burial at Marion National Cemetery at 1:00 PM, a final resting place befitting a true patriot.
